holiness
wrapped in flesh,
majesty
traded his crown for
muscle,
bone,
blood.

what child is this
who would deliver himself
to the world this way?

one who knew need,
felt hunger,
experienced pain;
one who laughed
but also wept,
who was lonely,
who had longings,
who was rejected
by those he loved the most.

he wasn’t afraid of
mess;
he came—
he became.

there could be no greater gift.
